Pear Chocolate Cake

Decadent chocolate and juicy fresh pears make a blend from heaven! Moist and rich, this cake is comforting and uplifting. Although it is easy to make, it will be a showstopper and impress your guests!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 whole pears

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 360 degrees F (180 C).
  2. Line a 9-inch round springform cake pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour with the cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon and orange zest. Set aside.
  4. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the oil with the sugar on high speed until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time whisking after each addition.
  6. Add the vanilla extract. Lower the speed and fold in the dry ingredients alternating with the milk starting with the flour mixture and ending with it.
  7. Pour the mixture in the prepared pan and place the pears in the batter.
  8. Bake the cake in the heated oven for around 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes.
  10. Pass a knife around the edges of the pan and gently release the cake and place it on a serving platter.
  11. Slice, serve and enjoy!
