Date Walnut Brownies

Date Walnut Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour sifted
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder sifted
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup dates pitted and chopped
  • 1 cup raw walnuts chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180C).
  2. Line a 9-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Put the chocolate inside a heat proof bowl.
  4. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water.
  5. Melt stirring occasionally then remove from the heat and set aside.
  6. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter with the sugar until light and flufffy.
  7. Add the eggs one at a time mixing after each addition.
  8. Fold in the melted chocolate followed by the sifted flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  9. Finally, stir in the dates and walnuts.
  10. Pour the mixture into an even layer in the prepared sheet.
  11. Bake for 20/25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  13. Cut into small squares, serve and enjoy!
