Walnut Pistachio Meat Patties with Lemony Yogurt Sauce

Walnut Pistachio Meat Patties with Lemony Yogurt Sauce

Ingredients

For the patties
  • 1 pound ground meat of your choice (beef, lamb, chicken….)
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup roasted walnuts finely ground
  • 1/2 cup raw toasted pistachios chopped
  • 1 cup fresh mixed herbs finely chopped (parsley, cilantro, dill..)
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the yogurt sauce
  • 2 cups Greek
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sumac

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F(200 C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the ground meat with the remaining ingredients and knead well with your wet hands until well combined.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into patties the size and thickness of your choice and place them on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake in the heated oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the yogurt with the lemon zest and juice, olive oil and sumac.
  8. Transfer the patties to a serving platter.
  9. Drizzle with some more sumac and serve with the yogurt sauce and a side of your favorite salad.
