Seared Ahi Tuna

This sesame seeds crusted ahi tuna is tender and flavorful. Pan seared so the inside remains moist, then sliced and served on a bed of a fresh green salad drizzled with a delicious pungent dressing, it is so easy to prepare and will look like it just came from a fancy restaurant!

Seared Ahi Tuna

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ahí tuna
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp toasted white sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp freshly grated ginger

Instructions

  1. Pat the ahi tuna dry then sprinkle with some salt and pepper and drizzle with the sesame oil.
  2. Mix the black and white sesame seeds and spread them on a flat plate.
  3. Coat the tuna all over with the seeds.
  4. Heat a grill on high. Sear the tuna for 1 minute on each side.
  5. Remove from the heat and transfer to a cutting board.
  6. Slice into 1/2-inch thick strips.
  7. Place the tuna strips on a bed of greens.
  8. Prepare a dressing by mixing the lime juice with the vinegar, soy sauce and ginger.
  9. Drizzle the dressing over the tuna.
